New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has launched a digital initiative called ‘Satyagraha’, inviting people across India to share their experiences of fighting against injustice.

The initiative was announced on October 3 through a post on social media. According to reports, the platform is designed to bring different protests and individual struggles onto a common interactive map, allowing users to share their stories and find others raising similar issues.

What Is Rahul Gandhi’s Satyagraha Initiative?

Under the initiative, people who say they are fighting against injustice can submit details about their cause through the platform. Users can then view similar struggles and protests taking place in different parts of the country.

Gandhi said the initiative aims to bring together voices that are often raised separately. He referred to students, farmers, women, tribal communities, Dalits and Gen Z while describing the different groups involved in struggles across the country.

Rahul Gandhi Invokes Mahatma Gandhi

While announcing the initiative, Gandhi invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of Satyagraha and emphasised the role of truth and collective action.

He said people fighting against injustice could share their stories through the platform and indicated that, as Leader of the Opposition, he would seek to support them through Parliament, public campaigns or other means where appropriate.

Platform Seeks to Map Protests Across India

In an accompanying video, Gandhi referred to protests and public campaigns on issues including inflation, farmers’ concerns, students and women’s safety. He said the objective was to consolidate information about such movements in one place.

The launch comes amid a series of political protests and opposition programmes across the country. The INDIA bloc has separately announced district-level ‘Save Democracy’ marches from October 2 to 8, with opposition MPs scheduled to march to the Election Commission on October 6.

The ‘Satyagraha’ platform is therefore being presented by Gandhi as a digital space where people can document their individual struggles and connect them with similar causes across India.
