Kochi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is intensifying its organisational expansion in Kerala with the party claiming that nearly 20,000 people have registered with it across the state. CJP national media lead Vijay Reddy Mallangi said Kerala has recorded the highest number of registrations for the organisation among states.
The party is now preparing to deepen its outreach among students and young people through programmes at universities, autonomous institutions and research centres.
The party has linked its Kerala expansion to its ongoing political campaign seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Reddy said the response from Kerala gained momentum after the CJP organised a nationwide protest in Mumbai on October 2. The organisation claimed that the demonstration received strong support from young people from Kerala.
The figure of around 20,000 registrations is a claim made by CJP and has not been independently verified.
CJP is now looking to expand its presence across educational institutions in Kerala. Supporters have reportedly been organising meetings in different parts of the state as the party prepares for its proposed October 10 demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has called for a nationwide march to Delhi as part of the organisation’s campaign against the Chief Election Commissioner. The party said its Kerala strategy will place particular emphasis on connecting with students and building a wider youth support base.
As part of its expansion strategy, CJP plans to increase its activities on university campuses across Kerala. The organisation’s four zonal coordinators are expected to spearhead the outreach programme and examine the possibility of setting up membership desks at universities. Such desks would provide students with a direct channel to learn about the organisation and register their support.
The party also plans to approach student organisations representing different political affiliations in an effort to coordinate its campaign.
The proposed October 10 Jantar Mantar protest has become a major focus of CJP’s current mobilisation campaign. Meetings are being held across Kerala as supporters seek to build participation for the planned Delhi demonstration. The party is combining its campus outreach with broader public mobilisation ahead of the protest.
Reddy said the movement’s political outlook was centred on protecting the fundamental principles established by the Constitution. The party’s Kerala campaign is therefore being presented as both an organisational expansion exercise and part of its wider political campaign concerning the electoral roll revision issue.
With a growing focus on universities and young people, CJP is seeking to make Kerala a significant part of its broader nationwide mobilisation strategy.
