New Delhi: Opposition Members of parliament arrived in wearing black attire in premises on Wednesday to protest against the alleged police lathi charge on students during the recent CJP protest in Delhi.

The protest took place amid the ongoing Monsoon Session, with leaders demanding accountability over the police crackdown and calling for a discussion on student-related issues inside both Houses.

Symbolic Protest Inside Parliament Complex

Several MPs from Opposition parties gathered in the Parliament complex wearing black clothes and raised slogans condemning what they described as excessive police action against protesting students. The leaders said the protest was aimed at drawing attention to the concerns of students and demanding reforms in the examination system.

The Opposition has also sought action against those responsible for the alleged use of force and reiterated its demand for a debate on the issue in Parliament.

Political Row Continues

The demonstration comes days after the "Chalo Sansad" march organised during the CJP protest witnessed clashes between protesters and Delhi Police. The incident triggered a political confrontation, with Opposition leaders accusing the government of suppressing the voices of students.

The government has maintained that it is prepared to discuss genuine concerns related to the examination system in Parliament while defending the actions taken by law enforcement during the protest.

Tension Persists During Monsoon Session

The issue is expected to remain a key flashpoint during the Monsoon Session, with the Opposition continuing to press for a detailed discussion on student protests, alleged examination irregularities and the police response.

The protest by MPs in black added to the political heat in Parliament as both the government and the Opposition prepared for another day of confrontation over the issue.
