New Delhi: BJP leader Shezad Poonawalla on Saturday, August 1, posted a video saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to become a dictator. He contrasted PM Modi’s recent response to the NEET protest controversy with what Poonawalla called the Congress- and opposition-ruled states' record on dissent.
He posted a video on the social media platform X saying that PM Modi has “totally disappointed”, adding sarcastically he said, “Twelve years have passed, and he is a failure. He doesn’t even know how to become a proper dictator.”
Poonawalla made this video a day after PM Modi posted a video urging people to forgive the students who had allegedly used abusive language against PM Modi and his late mother during the NEET UG 2026 paper leak protest held at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
Poonawalla further said that PM Modi, instead of behaving as a dictator, urged society, the police, and everyone to forgive the young girl.
Poonawalla said, "Last night he released a video and, regarding the children who used abusive language against constitutional authorities and his late mother, he said, 'They are mischievous children, forgive them.' He appealed to society, to the police and to everyone to forgive them."
He further targets Congress and Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Rahul Gandhi is a descendant of Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Learn from them what a real dictatorship is, what a real Emergency is, Modi ji."
