New Delhi: Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday cited the medical report of Sahil Lochav, alleging that the student protester was injured after pellets were fired by an unidentified police officer near Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi claimed that the medical report mentioned that the patient was hit by pellets during the incident and alleged that the victim suffered serious injuries, including pellets lodged near his eye and other parts of the body.
Speaking about the incident, Rahul Gandhi said that the medical report clearly indicated pellet injuries and questioned the circumstances under which the firing took place.

“Pellet gun was used at Connaught Place on July 20. The AIIMS report clearly says that there are more than 200 pellets inside his body and three in his eye. He has lost vision in that eye,” Gandhi said.
He further questioned who was responsible for the firing, saying that Delhi Police had denied using pellet guns during the incident.
Rahul Gandhi said that if the police did not use pellet guns, authorities must identify who fired them.
“Delhi Police say they did not fire pellet guns. So, there is only one question — someone must have done it. A crime has indeed happened,” he said.
The Congress leader demanded that an FIR be registered in connection with the case and said that the victim’s family deserved justice.
The controversy relates to the protest held at Jantar Mantar during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case.
According to Rahul Gandhi, Sahil Lochav suffered pellet injuries during the protest. He claimed that the medical report documented the extent of the injuries suffered by the victim.
The issue has triggered a political confrontation between the Congress and authorities, with Rahul Gandhi demanding an FIR and an investigation into the incident.
Several Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, also reached the spot as the party continued to raise questions over the alleged use of pellet guns.
The matter has now become a major political issue, with demands for accountability and a probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
