Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party has started a fresh political experiment by adding the colour blue to the identity of its student wing, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha. The decision has sparked discussion in Uttar Pradesh politics as the party looks to strengthen its connection with young voters.
The traditional red and green colours of the Samajwadi Party will remain intact, but the addition of blue is being projected as a symbol of broader social representation and a new approach towards youth politics.
The party’s student organisation is set to adopt a new dress style featuring blue along with existing colours. According to party leaders, the idea behind the change is to bring uniformity among students and give the organisation a more modern identity.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the new generation comes with new thinking, which is why the student wing has received a new uniform. He added that a uniform creates a sense of unity among members.
The inclusion of blue has attracted attention because the colour holds a significant place in the Bahujan movement and is associated with social justice politics.
Akhilesh Yadav has been promoting the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) formula as a key political strategy. The latest move is being seen as an attempt to strengthen the party’s outreach among Dalit communities and young voters.
The SP chief also said that blue represents ideas and ideology, while highlighting that the party wants to bring different sections of society together.
With changing voter preferences and increasing influence of social media, political parties are focusing heavily on Gen-Z voters. The Samajwadi Party’s latest step reflects its attempt to create a fresh image for its youth organisation.
The party believes that combining its traditional identity with a new colour symbol will help attract more students and expand its grassroots network across Uttar Pradesh.
