Kolkata: Senior Trinamool Congress leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has publicly defended her decision to distance herself from the party, saying years of dissatisfaction over governance and internal functioning forced her to support the NDA.

The three-time MP stated that she had worked alongside Mamata Banerjee for nearly four decades and remained loyal even before the party came to power in West Bengal.

“Sar Katega Lekin Jhukega Nahi”

In a strong statement, Dastidar said she would never bow under pressure. Using the phrase “Sar katega lekin jhukega nahi,” she claimed she had tolerated enough within the party structure and was no longer willing to stay silent.

She rejected criticism from party leaders over her decision and insisted that her political stand was based on principles rather than electoral calculations.

Claims of Governance Failures

The rebel MP alleged that multiple sectors in West Bengal, including education, healthcare, and law and order, had weakened in recent years. She also accused certain leaders within the party of influencing government functioning and creating an unhealthy political atmosphere.

According to Dastidar, growing public dissatisfaction and administrative pressure contributed to the Trinamool Congress’s recent electoral setback.

20 MPs Allegedly in Talks with NDA

Dastidar claimed that around 20 dissident MPs are now in discussions to align with the NDA, signalling one of the biggest internal rebellions faced by the party since its formation.

She revealed that the rebel group had already written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking separate seating arrangements in Parliament.

Political Crisis Deepens in Bengal

Her remarks come amid a widening crisis inside the Trinamool Congress, with several leaders publicly expressing dissent after the party’s electoral defeat. Dastidar also claimed that no senior party leader attempted to contact her after her resignation, alleging she had been sidelined within the organisation.

Political observers believe the growing rebellion could significantly reshape West Bengal’s political equations in the coming months.
