New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has once again requested the party leadership to accept his resignation from all organisational posts and primary membership, after his earlier resignation letter was not immediately accepted.

Poonawalla had earlier submitted his resignation on July 30, expressing his desire to step away from active politics and move towards the private sector due to personal and financial reasons.

Poonawalla Says Decision Was Taken After Careful Thought

In a fresh letter shared on Monday, Poonawalla thanked the BJP leadership for asking him to reconsider his decision.

He said the party’s response was touching and expressed gratitude for the trust shown by the organisation. However, after further consideration, he said he had reached a final decision to seek relief from his role as national spokesperson and active party membership.

Expresses Gratitude to BJP Leadership

While stepping down, Poonawalla expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Nitin Nabin and senior leaders including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and BL Santosh.

He highlighted his respect and association with the party leadership while maintaining that his decision was based on personal circumstances.

Financial and Personal Reasons Behind Exit

Poonawalla cited pressing financial commitments and personal factors as the main reasons behind his decision to leave active party responsibilities.

He said he now intends to explore opportunities in the private sector after serving in the political organisation.

BJP Yet To Take Final Decision

The BJP had earlier not accepted his resignation immediately and had requested him to reconsider. With Poonawalla now pressing for acceptance of his resignation, the party’s next move will be closely watched.

His exit comes at a time when political parties are focusing on organisational changes and strengthening their public communication strategies ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
