Andhra Pradesh Bus Accident: Volvo Collides With Truck, Falls From Poguru Bridge; 40 Injured

New Delhi: A major road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district left around 40 passengers injured after a private Volvo bus collided with an Eicher truck and fell from Poguru bridge.

The accident caused panic at the spot as several passengers were trapped inside the damaged bus. Rescue teams, police officials and local residents immediately launched efforts to evacuate the injured.

Bus And Truck Plunge From Bridge After Collision

According to preliminary information, the Volvo bus was travelling when it collided with the truck on the bridge. Following the impact, both vehicles reportedly lost control and fell from Poguru bridge.

The collision was so severe that both vehicles suffered heavy damage. The exact reason behind the crash has not yet been confirmed, and police have started an investigation to determine whether factors such as speeding, driver error or road conditions played a role.

40 Passengers Injured, 10 Critical

Around 40 passengers sustained injuries in the accident. After receiving information, police teams and locals reached the spot and began rescue operations.

The injured passengers were removed from the wreckage and taken to Pamidi Government Hospital for treatment. Those with serious injuries were later shifted to Anantapur Government Hospital. Officials said around 10 passengers are in critical condition and are undergoing medical care.

Driver Rescued After Being Trapped

The bus driver was among those seriously injured and remained trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Rescue teams used a JCB machine to remove the driver from the wreckage. After a difficult rescue operation, the driver was pulled out and rushed for treatment. Reports suggest he suffered a serious leg injury.

Police Begin Probe Into Accident

Police and local officials reached the accident site and monitored rescue operations. A case has been registered, and investigators are collecting details to understand the circumstances behind the collision.

The priority remains providing treatment to the injured passengers while authorities continue their probe into one of the major road accidents reported in Anantapur.
