Bureaucracy: Tamil Nadu govt reshuffles IPS officers; B Bala Naga Devi appointed DGP intelligence

The Tamil Nadu government has ordered key IPS transfers, appointing a new Director General of Police (Intelligence) while assigning additional responsibilities to senior officers in the Economic Offences Wing and Civil Supplies CID.

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced a set of transfers and new postings for senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers with immediate effect. The order was issued by the Home (SC) Department from the state secretariat in Chennai on March 14.

The administrative reshuffle involves senior officers handling important portfolios in the state’s police and intelligence departments.

B. Bala Naga Devi Appointed DGP (Intelligence)

According to the official order, B. Bala Naga Devi has been appointed as the Director General of Police (Intelligence), Chennai. She was previously serving as Director General of Police in the Economic Offences Wing.

The post of Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) has been upgraded to accommodate the new appointment.

Additional Charges for Senior Officers

The government has also assigned additional responsibilities to two other IPS officers.

Santosh Kumar, who currently serves as Inspector General of Police in the Economic Offences Wing, has been given additional charge as Additional Director General of Police of the same wing after the post of DGP, Economic Offences Wing, was downgraded.

Similarly, Rupesh Kumar Meena, presently Inspector General of Police in the Civil Supplies CID, will hold additional charge as Additional Director General of Police of the Civil Supplies CID.

Order Issued by Home Department

The official communication was issued by Dheeraj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, who directed the changes to be implemented immediately.

Officials said the transfers are part of routine administrative restructuring aimed at strengthening the state’s law enforcement and intelligence operations.
