7 killed in serial crash in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: At least seven people were killed in a chain road accident early Friday morning on the Hoskote-Dabaspet National Highway (NH-648) near M. Satyavar village in Hoskote taluk. The collision between a car, a bike, and a truck left several families devastated.
High Speed Proved Fatal
According to police, the XUV, which was travelling towards Devanahalli, first collided with a two-wheeler from behind before smashing into the rear of a canter ahead. The impact threw the two-wheeler rider off his vehicle, causing him to strike the metal crash barrier with tremendous force, resulting in his instant death.
“The XUV seems to have been moving at high speed, and all its occupants died on the spot. Preliminary observations indicate they were aged between 20 and 25, though their identities are yet to be confirmed,” said a police officer involved in the investigation.
The collision was so severe that it tore off two of the canter’s rear wheels. Police added that another SUV travelling behind the XUV also collided with it, though its two occupants escaped without injuries.
Authorities have identified the two-wheeler rider as Gagan, in his 20s, and one of the XUV occupants as 17-year-old Ashwin Nair, a resident of Kothanur. The remaining victims have not yet been identified.
Early investigations indicate that Gagan was at home around 3 a.m. when he received a call from his friends, after which he left the house.
