Ex-MLA’s Son’s Murder in Karnataka
Dharwad: Days after a charred body was discovered in Karnataka’s Dharwad district, police on Friday confirmed the victim as Raju Bolashetti, son of former MLA Baburao Bolashetti, following the arrest of three accused, including a minor.
Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya said the accused have been identified as Munera Sherif Dillunaika (32), Mrutyunjay Devappa Kambar (26), and a juvenile, all residents of Bidaragaddi in Bailhongal taluk.
The case came to light on March 24, when police recovered a charred body inside a burnt car in a field near a railway track at Rampur village in Dharwad taluk. The severely burnt condition of the body immediately raised suspicions of foul play, triggering a detailed investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the हत्या was carried out at a different location. Investigators believe the accused later transported the body and the vehicle to the isolated spot and set both on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence and mislead authorities.
Police teams, using a combination of technical surveillance and field-level investigation, were able to trace the suspects within hours. The accused were subsequently apprehended, leading to a breakthrough in the case.
Officials said further investigation is underway to establish the motive behind the हत्या and to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the crime.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and record statements, while also examining any possible links or prior disputes involving the victim. The case has sent shockwaves across the region, given the victim’s political background.
