Sabarimala Gold Case: SIT arrests former TDB administrative officer Sreekumar

Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the Sabarimala gold controversy arrested S Sreekumar, a former administrative officer of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), on Wednesday.

According to the Kerala Police, the SIT arrested Sreekumar, the former administrative officer of the Devaswom Board, in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case. Sreekumar was serving as the administrative officer in 2019 when the gold plating was removed from the idols at the temple entrance.

Police said that Sreekumar was summoned to the Crime Branch office today for questioning, after which he was arrested.

Sreekumar's arrest comes two weeks after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The court had observed that the allegations against him were prima facie true. The anticipatory bail plea of ​​S. Jayashree, a former secretary of the TDB, was also rejected at the same time.
