Chennai: In a move that has thrilled fans, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay has granted special permission for early morning screenings of Trisha Krishnan’s upcoming film, Karuppu.

The action-drama, featuring the iconic Suriya-Trisha pair on-screen after 20 years, is slated for release on May 14.

The makers of Karuppu, Dream Warrior Pictures, expressed their gratitude on Instagram, sharing a photo of CM Vijay at the Chief Minister’s Office. “Our heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Vijay for granting special permission to screen Karuppu at 9 AM,” they wrote.

Early morning film shows are rare in Tamil Nadu, requiring explicit government approval. Following a tragic incident during a 4:30 AM screening of Thunivu in 2023, early morning and late-night shows were temporarily banned to ensure public safety.

Under current regulations, screenings before 9 AM are prohibited unless special permission is granted, highlighting the significance of Vijay’s decision.

Fans have taken to social media, praising Vijay’s gesture and teasing the long-standing camaraderie between him and Trisha. This comes shortly after Trisha’s presence at Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony, which had already created a buzz.

Produced by RJ Balaji, Karuppu marks a highly anticipated reunion for Suriya and Trisha. With its release just around the corner, early morning screenings are expected to attract die-hard fans eager to witness the duo back on screen together.
