Aligarh: Aligarh is gearing up for a grand Deepotsav celebration on November 13, with 51,000 diyas set to illuminate the historic Achal Taal. The event will also feature the city's first-ever drone show, adding a new attraction to this year's festivities.

The district will celebrate Deepotsav for the second time. After last year's event, the administration has drawn up more elaborate plans, including cultural performances, rangoli decorations and a laser show. However, the drone display is expected to be the biggest attraction.

100 Drones To Light Up The Sky

Around 100 drones will take to the sky, creating formations depicting Diwali, Shri Ram, the Ram Mandir, the Tricolour and other images. A musical programme will accompany the display, adding to the devotional atmosphere at the venue.

The administration has also stepped up cleaning and decoration work at Achal Taal ahead of the celebrations. Thousands of people are expected to take part in the event, including government officials, employees, schoolchildren, women from self-help groups and local residents, who will join in lighting the diyas.

Deepotsav To Promote Aligarh's Cultural Heritage

The celebrations are part of an effort to showcase Aligarh's cultural heritage and strengthen its identity as a tourist destination. The administration expects the large-scale illumination and cultural programmes to draw residents and visitors to the historic site.

Mayor Prashant Singhal said the drone show had been planned to make this year's celebration more impressive than the previous edition.

"The drone show is being organized to make this year's Deepotsav program grander and more attractive than last year's event. This will be the first time such a show is being organized as part of the Deepotsav celebrations here. Watching it will give city residents an enhanced experience. The Achal Taal premises will be illuminated with 51,000 diyas. Cultural programs and a laser show will also be organized," he said.
