A 30-year-old van driver was beaten to death by a mob in Chennai’s Broadway area after he allegedly urinated from a moving auto and the urine splashed on a woman pedestrian. The victim, identified as Kalaiselvan from Triplicane, was reportedly drunk at the time.

Chennai: A shocking incident has occurred in the Broadway area of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, where a 30-year-old van driver was beaten to death by a mob. It is reported that the young man urinated from a moving vehicle, splashing the urine onto a woman passing by. The dispute escalated to the point where the mob attacked the young man, leading to his death.
The deceased has been identified as Kalaiselvan, a resident of Triplicane. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning while he was traveling in an auto-rickshaw with his friend Balaji.
According to reports, Kalaiselvan, who was allegedly drunk, urinated from inside the vehicle while the auto-rickshaw was passing through Prakasam Salai. The incident splashed a woman passing by.
Following this incident, the woman confronted Kalaiselvan and his friend Balaji, leading to an argument between the two parties. A crowd of people gathered and attacked the two young men.
During the attack, Kalaiselvan was seriously injured and fell unconscious, while his friend Balaji was also seriously injured.
Upon learning of the incident, Kalaiselvan's brother Kalaivanan rushed to the scene and immediately took him to Government Stanley Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead after examination.
The deceased's family has accused the police of negligence. Kalaiselvan's brother says the incident occurred near a police station, but the police did not provide timely assistance.
He alleged that the police did not even call an ambulance. The family refused to accept the body, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
The Esplanade Police Station has registered a case and begun an investigation. Police are examining footage from CCTV cameras in the surrounding area to identify the attackers.
It is reported that the attackers fled the scene after the incident. Police are currently investigating the matter and expect to arrest the accused soon.
