A tragic road accident occurred in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu late Wednesday night when a state transport bus lost control after a tyre burst and collided with two cars on a highway. The incident claimed nine lives and left four others seriously injured.
Nine Killed in Tamil Nadu Bus-Car Collision in Cuddalore
Cuddalore: A major road accident occurred late Wednesday night in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, killing nine people and seriously injuring four others. The accident happened when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus traveling from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai suddenly went out of control. The incident caused chaos in the entire area.
According to police officials, the bus's front tire suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The bus crossed the divider and veered into the opposite lane, where it collided with two oncoming cars. The collision was so severe that both cars were extensively damaged.

Immediately after the accident, there were screams and cries for help on the road. Local people rushed to the scene to help and informed the police and ambulances. Some passengers were trapped in the bus and cars, and it took considerable effort to rescue them.
Upon receiving the information, police from Tittakudi and Ramanatham police stations reached the spot. Relief and rescue teams, with the help of local people, rescued the injured who were trapped. All the injured were admitted to government hospitals in Tittakudi and Perambalur via ambulance.
According to the police, seven people in the two cars died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the hospital. The deceased include five men and four women. Four people were seriously injured in the accident, including two children.
The accident caused a traffic jam stretching for several kilometers on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli National Highway. The movement of heavy vehicles came to a complete standstill, causing immense inconvenience to commuters. Traffic was restored only after about two hours, after the damaged vehicles were removed with the help of cranes.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed his deep sorrow over the accident. He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
The Chief Minister directed that an ex-gratia payment of three lakh rupees each would be given to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. Those seriously injured will receive one lakh rupees each. He also instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment.
