V.R. Kamalanathan, J. Pothiraj Elected President and Secretary of Madras Bar Association

Advocates V.R. Kamalanathan and J. Pothiraj have been elected President and Secretary of the historic Madras Bar Association. The newly elected office-bearers also met the Madras High Court Chief Justice, who congratulated them.

Chennai: Senior advocates V.R. Kamalanathan and J. Pothiraj have been elected as the new President and Secretary of the Madras Bar Association (MBA), one of India’s oldest and most prestigious legal bodies. The results were announced following a formal election process conducted by the association.

About the Madras Bar Association

The Madras Bar Association was established in 1865, just three years after the founding of the Madras High Court in 1862 through a Royal Charter. Over the decades, the MBA has played a vital role in upholding professional ethics, legal education, and the interests of the legal fraternity in Tamil Nadu.

Other Office-Bearers Elected

According to a press communiqué issued by Senior Advocate K.K. Senthilvelan, who served as the election officer, advocates V.T. Balaji and D. Raja were elected as Treasurer and Librarian respectively. Their roles will be crucial in managing the association’s finances and maintaining its extensive legal resources.

Executive Committee Members

In addition to the key office-bearers, advocates Muziz Ali, Y. Kavitha, G. Arulselvi, P. Elayarajkumar, and V. Vasanthakumar were elected as members of the Executive Committee. They will assist in policy decisions and day-to-day functioning of the association.

Following their election, the newly elected office-bearers met the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava. The Chief Justice congratulated the team and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.
