New Delhi: The festival of Maha Navami, the ninth and final day of Chaitra Navratri, is being celebrated with reverence and devotion. Worshiping Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga, holds special significance on this day. It is believed that worship performed with a sincere heart blesses the Goddess with happiness, prosperity, and accomplishments. A special atmosphere of devotion prevails in temples and homes on this day.

Form and Glory of Goddess Siddhidatri

Maa Siddhidatri is considered the complete form of Goddess Durga. Her form is described as extremely calm and radiant. She rides a lion and sits on a lotus throne. She holds a mace, a chakra, a lotus, and a conch shell in her four hands, symbolizing power, knowledge, and accomplishment. According to religious beliefs, Lord Shiva also attained many accomplishments through her grace.

Auspicious Time for Worship

Worshiping during the auspicious time on Maha Navami is considered especially fruitful.

Brahma Muhurta: 4:44 AM to 5:30 AM
Morning Sandhya: 5:07 AM to 6:17 AM
Abhijit Muhurta: 12:02 PM to 12:51 PM
Evening Sandhya: 6:36 PM to 7:46 PM

Performing puja during these times brings special merit.

Puja Method and Rituals

After bathing in the morning, wear clean clothes and purify the home temple with Ganga water. After taking a vow to observe the fast, sandalwood paste, unbroken rice grains, flowers, and makeup items are offered to the Goddess. After offering Panchamrit, fruits, and sweets, a lamp is lit and mantras are chanted. Finally, the puja concludes with an Aarti.

Importance of Kanya Pujan

The tradition of Kanya Pujan on Maha Navami is considered very special. Nine young girls are considered incarnations of the Goddess, their feet are washed, and they are fed. Prasad of halwa, puri, and black gram is offered. They are then bid farewell with gifts and dakshina, a symbol of reverence and respect.

The last day of Navratri is not limited to religious rituals, but also symbolizes spiritual peace and positive energy. On this day, people pray for happiness, peace, and prosperity in their lives. With the blessings of Mother Siddhidatri, new energy and hope are infused into the lives of devotees.
