Melbourne: Australia defeated India by 4 wickets in the second match of the five-match T20 series played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. With this victory, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the series. Batting first, India was all out for 125 runs, and Australia achieved the target of 126 runs in just the 14th over.

Struggling Innings By Indian Batsmen

Team India did not have a good start. Electing to bat after losing the toss, the Indian team suffered early setbacks. Shubman Gill was dismissed for 20 runs off 5 balls. The team then lost wickets at regular intervals, and soon half the team was back in the pavilion at 49 runs.

In this difficult time, Harshit Rana and Abhishek Sharma put on a crucial 56-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Harshit Rana scored 35 runs off 33 balls, including three fours and a six. Abhishek Sharma played a blistering innings of 68 runs in 37 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes. The remaining nine batsmen were dismissed without scoring. Josh Hazlewood took the lead for Australia, taking three wickets.

Australian Opening Pair Took Control

Chasing a modest target of 126, Australia got off to a flying start with Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh. They shared a 51-run partnership for the first wicket. Head scored 28 runs off 15 balls before being dismissed. Mitchell Marsh then scored 46 runs off 26 balls, hitting two fours and four sixes. However, Marsh missed out on a half-century.

Tim David flopped in this match, scoring just one run. Josh Inglis scored 20 runs off 20 balls at a strike rate of 100. In the end, Mitchell Owen and Marcus Stoinis led the team to victory. Mitchell Owen scored 14 runs off 10 balls, including a six.

Indian Bowlers' Performance

For India, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each and tried their best to contain the Australian team. Bumrah and Chakravarthy bowled economically, but the other bowlers failed to make much of an impact. Overall, India's batting and bowling proved weak against Australia in this match, and the team lost by 4 wickets.
