Mumbai: India’s women star batter Jemimah Rodrigues scripted cricketing history in the 2025 Women’s World Cup semi-final match against Australia. The semi-final match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, witnessed Jemimah deliver one of the most memorable innings of her career, taking India to the final.Her emotions overflowed after the victory, and she broke down in tears on the field.“I Cried Almost Every Day”

Speaking after the match, Jemimah revealed the mental struggle she faced during the tour. “Throughout this journey, I cried almost every day. I wasn’t feeling mentally well and went through a lot of stress and anxiety,” she admitted. The win against Australia brought immense relief and joy, marking a turning point in her World Cup campaign.

Gratitude to God and Supporters

Jemimah expressed her gratitude, saying, “I want to thank God because this was all possible because of Him.I am also thankful to my parents, coaches, and everyone who believed in me. Last month was very tough for me. It feels like a dream has finally come true.” She explained how her faith guided her through the pressure: “I just knew I had to play, and the rest was in God’s hands. I kept repeating a Bible verse: ‘Be still, and God will fight for you.’ I stood there and trusted Him, and He truly did.”

Credit to Teammates and Fans

Despite the pressure, Jemimah credited her teammates and fans for the victory. “A lot was going on inside me, but I tried to stay calm.When we won, I couldn’t hold myself back. Deepti was talking to me after every ball, encouraging me. The rest of the team inspired me, and every cheer and clap from the crowd gave me energy. This victory isn’t just mine—it’s India’s victory,” she said.

Playing for the Win, Not the Century

Jemimah revealed she learned at the last moment that she would bat at number three.“I was just getting ready in the shower when I was told. For me, the match was about India’s win, not my innings. It wasn’t about scoring a century or fifty—it was about leading the team to victory,” she said.

Unbeatable Knock Under Pressure

Chasing a massive target of 339, Jemimah and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (89) put together a game-changing 167-run partnership for the third wicket. Jemimah’s unbeaten 127 off 134 balls, including 14 boundaries, turned the match in India’s favor, also became the highest successful chase in India’s Women’s World Cup knockout history.
