Batting first, England posted an astonishing total of 304 runs a rare feat in T20 cricket. In response, South Africa struggled and could only manage 158 runs, falling well short of the target.

England opener Phil Salt played an unbeaten innings of 141 runs with the help of 15 fours and eight sixes in 60 balls. Jos Buttler scored 83 runs with the help of eight fours and seven sixes in 30 balls. Jacob Bethell scored 26 runs in 14 balls and captain Harry Brook scored an unbeaten 41 runs in 21 balls. His innings included five fours and a six.
Salt and Buttler together added 126 runs for the first wicket. The pair completed 100 runs in just 35 balls, which is the second fastest century scored by a team against a full member. At number one is West Indies, which completed a century in 33 balls against South Africa in the year 2023.

During the partnership of Buttler and Salt, the team's run rate was 16.06. This is the highest run rate achieved by a full member team in a partnership of more than 100 runs in T20 International.
England scored 166 runs in this match for the loss of one wicket in 10 overs. This is the highest score made by any team in the first 10 overs in T20 International. In this case, it has surpassed Australia, which scored 156 runs for the loss of three wickets in the match played against Scotland in Edinburgh in 2024.
