A Campaign Filled With Highs and Challenges
India entered the tournament as strong favourites and began their campaign confidently, winning all four matches in Group A. However, their momentum briefly stalled when South Africa national cricket team handed them a heavy 76-run defeat.
The result, combined with a big win by the West Indies cricket team over Zimbabwe national cricket team, put India in a must-win situation in the Super Stage. India responded strongly with crucial victories over Zimbabwe and West Indies to reach the knockout stage. In the semi-final, the team overcame England national cricket team in a high-scoring encounter to book a place in the final.
Their commanding victory over New Zealand eventually sealed a historic title and ensured the tournament ended with India lifting the trophy once again.
