Carrara: The fourth match of the five-match T20 series between India and Australia is being played at the Heritage Bank Stadium in Carrara. Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, India scored 167 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs, setting Australia a target of 168 runs. India's top order provided a solid start, but the middle order faltered once again.
India's start lived up to expectations. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill made a composed start. Shubman Gill then continued his impressive batting, scoring 46 runs. However, he too was dismissed in the 15th over. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (20 runs), Tilak Verma (5 runs), Jitesh Sharma (3 runs), and Washington Sundar (12 runs) followed in quick succession. This impacted India's run rate, preventing the team from posting a big total.
India's middle order once again proved disappointing. Wickets fell steadily from the third over to the final. Shivam Dubey (22 runs) played some good shots, but he too was dismissed in the 12th over. The dismissals of Surya and Tilak put the Indian team under pressure. There was some hope for Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh in the lower order, but they too failed to play big shots.
The Indian team made no changes in this match. The same team played in the third T20 in Hobart. On the other hand, Australia has made four changes. Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Philippe, and Ben Dwarshuis have been included in the team.
