Ahmedabad: The opening Test of the two‑match India vs West Indies series began on 2 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ravindra Jadeja will serve as vice‑captain and Narayan Jagadeesan is drafted into the squad as a replacement.

India’s regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is ruled out due to a foot injury.

Mohammed Siraj dismissed Tegnarayan Chanderpaul on the fifth ball of the fourth over of the innings. Dhruv Jurel took a brilliant catch. Chanderpaul faced 11 balls and could not open his account. After 4 overs, the West Indies team's score was 12/1.

West Indies lost their second wicket at the score of 20 runs. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed John Campbell on the first ball of the 7th over. Dhruv Jurel took his catch. Campbell scored 8 runs off 19 balls during this period.

West Indies suffered their ninth wicket at 153. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Justin Greaves and then clean bowled Johan Lynn. He managed just one run. This was Bumrah's third wicket of the Test. Jaden Seales and Jomel Warrican are currently at the crease.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the West Indies got off to a poor start, losing four wickets for 42 runs in the opening hour. Siraj dismissed Tejnarayan Chanderpaul (0), Brandon King (12), and Alick Athanaze (13), while Bumrah dismissed John Campbell (8). Captain Roston Chase and Shai Hope then added 48 runs for the fifth wicket. Hope was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, and the umpires declared lunch with his wicket. Hope scored 26 runs. In the second session, West Indies captain Roston Chase fell to Siraj for 24. Sundar then dismissed Khary Pierre (11) LBW. Bumrah then clean bowled Justin Greaves (32) and Johan Lynn (1) with two lethal yorkers. Kuldeep had Warrican (8) caught by wicketkeeper Jurel and West Indies' innings was bundled out for 162 runs.

West Indies' first innings was bundled out for 162 runs. Justin Greaves top-scored with 32 for West Indies, who won the toss and batted first. The team was all out within four and a half hours. For India, Mohammed Siraj took four wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took three. Apart from this, Kuldeep Yadav got two wickets and Washington Sundar got one wicket.
