Lucknow: Gujarat Titans registered a convincing seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in an Indian Premier League 2026 clash at Lucknow on Sunday. The visitors chased down a target of 165 with ease, finishing the game in 18.4 overs with eight balls to spare.

Bowlers Set the Tone

Gujarat’s win was built on a disciplined bowling effort that restricted Lucknow to 164/8 in 20 overs. Prasidh Krishna led the attack with an impressive spell, troubling the LSG middle order.

Support came from Mohammed SirajKagiso Rabada and Ashok Sharma, who chipped in with timely wickets. Despite a few starts, Lucknow’s batters failed to convert them into significant scores.

LSG Struggle to Capitalise

Aiden Markram top-scored with 30, while skipper Rishabh Pant managed 18. Contributions from Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad and Mukul Choudhary remained modest, leaving the side short of a competitive total.

Gill-Buttler Seal the Chase

In response, Gujarat lost an early wicket but quickly regained control through a match-defining 84-run partnership between Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. The duo paced the chase perfectly, neutralising any pressure from the opposition.

Buttler looked in commanding form, striking boundaries with ease, while Gill anchored the innings with composure. Both batters brought up half-centuries, effectively taking the game away from Lucknow.

Calm Finish Despite Late Wickets

Although Gujarat lost a couple of wickets towards the end, the result was never in doubt. Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar ensured there were no late hiccups, guiding the team across the line comfortably.

Points Table Impact

The victory boosts Gujarat Titans’ position in the IPL 2026 standings, helping them climb up the points table, while Lucknow Super Giants will look to regroup after a below-par performance.
