                                            Shafali Verma appointed Captain of North Zone
New Delhi: Another major decision has been made in Indian women's cricket. The BCCI's Regional Selection Committee has announced the teams for all six zones for the Senior Women's Inter-Regional T20 Trophy 2025. The tournament will be held in Nagaland from November 4th to 14th. Six zones - North, South, East, West, Central, and North East will participate.
Most notably, Indian team star Shafali Verma has been appointed captain of the North Zone team. Shweta Sehrawat has been appointed vice-captain. Tania Bhatia has been included in the team as wicketkeeper.

Shafali Verma's selection as captain is no less than a surprise. She performed brilliantly in the recent Women's World Cup 2025. She was named as a replacement for the injured Pratika Rawal. While her performance in the semi-finals was mediocre, she played a blistering innings of 87 runs in the final and took two crucial wickets, turning the match in India's favor. She was named Player of the Match for her outstanding all-round performance.
Thanks to this performance, she has now been given command of the North Zone team, demonstrating confidence in her leadership abilities.
The North Zone team boasts a strong mix of young and experienced players.
North Zone Squad: Shafali Verma (Captain), Shweta Sehrawat (Vice-Captain), Diya Yadav, Ayushi Soni, Tania Bhatia (Wicketkeeper), SM Singh, Bharti Rawal, Bavandeep Kaur, Mannat Kashyap, Amandeep Kaur, Komalpreet Kaur, Ananya Sharma, Soni Yadav, Najma, and Nandini.
A total of six teams will participate in the tournament, and the captains for all zones have been announced.

West Zone: Anuja Patil (Captain)
South Zone: Nikki Prasad (Captain)
Northeast Zone: Debasmita Dutta (Captain)
