10 Omicron patients discharged in Delhi
Ten Omicron Covid-19 patients were discharged from the LNJP Hospital here in the last two days, Hospital Medical Director Suresh Kumar said on Saturday.
New Delhi: Ten Omicron Covid-19 patients were discharged from the LNJP Hospital here in the last two days, Hospital Medical Director Suresh Kumar said on Saturday.
Currently, 10 patients are being treated in the hospital's special facility for Omicron cases. All of them are in stable condition, Kumar told UNI. Delhi reported as many as 12 cases of Omicron in a span of 24 hours on Friday. Two of them are being treated in private facilities.
"We have discharged 10 patients in the last two days as their isolation period was over. They also tested negative for Covid-19 before the discharge," Kumar said. Kumar said that all the Omicron patients under treatment at the hospital were in stable condition while most of them have remained asymptomatic so far.
As the tally of Omicron in the national capital touched 22 on Friday, the Delhi government on Saturday designated three private hospitals to treat suspects and patients.
The three -- all in the private sector -- added to the list are Batra Hospital, Fortis Vasant Kunj and Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital. The LNJP Hospital and Max Hospital in Saket were identified earlier to treat the patients. Of the total cases, 20 were admitted to LNJP, while the remaining were receiving treatment at private facilities.
One of the two patients was admitted to Max Hospital in Saket. The sources said the patient had recently gone abroad and tested positive for Covid-19 at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. "His condition is stable for now," the sources added. On Friday, 10 fully vaccinated international travellers including a few who have got booster doses of Covid vaccine were confirmed for Omicron variant in Delhi. They had arrived from Tanzania (1), Belgium (1), the UK (4) and Dubai (4).
Delhi reported its first case of the Omicron variant on December 5 -- a 37-year-old resident of Ranchi. (UNI)
