BJP Harpreet Kaur Babla elected as Mayor of Chandigarh

Chandigarh: BJP candidate Harpreet Kaur Babla has been elected as the new Mayor of Chandigarh. 

According to Dynamite News correspondent, she defeated AAP-Congress' join candidate Prem Lata by two votes in the 36-member municipal corporation. 

Babal receives 19 votes
The BJP candidate got 19 votes while Lata could garner 17 votes. 

Cong MP has voting rights
Notably, the BJP has 16 councillors while the grand old party has 6, and AAP has 13 councillors. Besides, Congress MP Manish Tiwari has granted voting rights in this election as a nominated member of the Corporation.
