Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup due to injury.

Abu Dabhi: Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur  has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup due to injury.

Pandya not taking further part in the tournament was expected after he was stretchered off the field during the group league encounter against Pakistan on Wednesday.

The incident took place in the 18th over of the Pakistan innings when the all-rounder was bowling his fifth over.

It was the fifth delivery and Pandya, after completing the follow through, immediately felt his lower back and lay on the ground in considerable pain.

He was unable to get up and was stretchered off. He was then taken for medical examination. 

Later, the BCCI tweeted that Pandya was suffering from an acute lower back injury.

Whereas, Shardul Thakur experienced soreness in his right hip and groin after India's tight win over Hong Kong in their first game of the tournament and Axar, who has been with the Indian limited-overs squads for a while as the third spinner, injured his left index finger while fielding against Pakistan with the subsequent scan results showing a tendon tear. 

With the trio getting ruled out, seamers Deepak Chahar and Siddarth Kaul join Jadeja as their replacements and are expected to join the squad on Thursday (September 20). (With PTI inputs)
