Capetown: Former world number one Rafael Nadal has revealed that he is looking forward to being a part of the upcoming Davis Cup Finals and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The 32-year-old, however, added that the events are too far away to make any predictions regarding his participation, at the moment.

“I would like to be there (Davis Cup Finals), but there are still a lot of months to go, seven or eight months, almost nine,” Sport24 quoted Nadal, as saying. “It's very difficult to predict what is going on in nine months, but my hope is to be there.”

The Davis Cup Finals are slated to be held in Madrid in November this year but top tennis player like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have already announced their unavailability for the selection.

As far as 2020 Olympic Games are concerned, Nadal said that Tokyo is going to be spectacular and assured that he would do his best to be there.

“You are talking about more than a year and a half away. I don't know what is going to happen but, as I already said, my hope is to be there. I know Tokyo’s going to be spectacular so I will do my best to be there,” Nadal said.

Nadal had won the singles gold medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics while in 2016 Rio Olympics he had clinched double gold. (ANI)
