Pahalgam -9, Gulmarg -8 Witnesses Seasons Coldest Night In Kashmir

Pahalgam in south Kashmir and Gulmarg in North Kashmir witnessed the season's coldest night on Saturday following fresh snowfall on the higher reaches resulting in considerable drop in the minimum temperature. Read on for details:

Srinagar: Kashmir valley witnesses rise in the minimum temperature at most places with mercury settling seasons lowest at tourist hot spots of Pahalgam - 9.0 degree Celsius and Gulmarg - 8.0 degree Celsius on Saturday.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir and Gulmarg in North Kashmir witnessed the season's coldest night on Saturday following fresh snowfall on the higher reaches resulting in considerable drop in the minimum temperature.

The dense cloud cover during the night has also led to an increase in minimum temperatures in plains, an independent weather observer Faizan Arif told UNI.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir had a low of 0.4 degree Celsius against minus 0.3 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was 2.5 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.

Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir recorded a low of 0.5 degree Celsius against minus 2.0 degree Celsius the previous night which was 2.8 degree Celsius above normal for this period of the year.

Kukernag had a low of minus 0.6 against minus 2.0 a day ago. It was 2.1 degrees above normal.

Kupwara recorded a low of minus 1.1 degree Celsius against minus 0.8 degree Celsius a day ago which was 1.4 degree above normal for this time of the season, MeT office said. (UNI)
