Uttar Pradesh: Two children die, 3 injured in house roof collapse

Muzaffarnagar: Two children were killed and three others were injured when the roof of a house collapsed due to incessant rain in Nai Mandi area of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said.

The sources said due to incessant rain on Saturday night the roof of Idrish's house collapsed in Nasirpur village in the morning. "Idris (50) and five others, who were sleeping inside the house, were buried under the debris," they said.

Police sources said that the villagers launched a rescue operation and pulled out the persons trapped under the debris and took them to the district hospital. "Idrish's son Owais (13) and nephew Arslan (15) died in the incident," they said.

Police sources said that Idris, his daughter Kareem (12) and son Sameer (17) were injured in the incident and were being treated at the district hospital. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadar Parmanand Jha said that the death of two children in the incident has been confirmed.
