New Delhi: Elon Musk's social media company, X (formerly Twitter), has taken a major and strict decision regarding illegal and obscene content. The company has clarified that any illegal content will not be tolerated on the platform. Whether such content is posted directly or created with the help of AI tools, the account involved will be permanently banned.

Strictness on misuse of Grok AI

X has also clarified that if a user creates obscene, offensive, or illegal content using its AI tool, Grok, they will face the same action as those who directly post it. The company states that images or videos created with AI are also subject to the law and will not be exempted.

Statement from Global Government Affairs

X's Global Government Affairs account has stated that content related to serious crimes such as child sexual abuse will be immediately removed. In such cases, accounts will be permanently suspended, and if necessary, full cooperation will be provided with local governments and law enforcement agencies.

Decision following Indian government warning

This strict action comes following a warning from the Indian government. On January 2, the Indian Ministry of Electronics and IT directed X to immediately remove obscene, objectionable, and illegal content from the platform. Specifically, it was instructed to monitor content created using Grok AI.

Report Ordered within 72 Hours

The government has directed X to submit an "Action Taken Report" within 72 hours. It has been warned that if the rules are not followed, legal action may be taken against the company.

Political Reaction and Increased Pressure

The government received complaints that fake and obscene images of women were being shared on X. Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote a letter to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav demanding strict action on this issue. Following this, both pressure and action against X have intensified.
