In Delhi’s competitive telecom market, Jio and Airtel continue to battle for supremacy. This comparison highlights which network leads in coverage, download speeds, and upload performance. While one provider may offer faster downloads, the other could excel in uploads or connectivity across different areas.
Delhi’s broadband battle: Jio vs Airtel
New Delhi: Reliance Jio and Airtel are two major telecom companies, but do you know which company dominates in the country's capital, Delhi? The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently conducted a network assessment of telecom operators in Delhi. The purpose of this assessment was to assess how telecom companies are performing. This assessment included four telecom companies: Jio, Vodafone Idea (Vi), Airtel, and MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited).
According to Telecom Talk, Reliance Jio delivered the best average download speed of 249.02 Mbps, while Airtel offered an average download speed of 234 Mbps. MTNL and Vodafone Idea had average download speeds of 5.04 Mbps and 23.82 Mbps, respectively. Jio outperformed all three companies in terms of download speed.

In terms of average upload speed, Airtel achieved 31.83 Mbps, Reliance Jio 25.98 Mbps, and MTNL and Vodafone Idea offered 1.68 Mbps and 11.38 Mbps respectively. Airtel leads in upload speed, while Jio lags behind.
In terms of voice calling, Airtel and Jio's call setup success rate was almost identical. Airtel's call setup success rate was 99.50 percent, Jio's was 99.30 percent, while MTNL and Vodafone Idea's was 86.53 percent and 98.59 percent, respectively. This was the network performance in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).
TRAI posts this evaluation at regular intervals. A common trend in these results is that in most areas, either Jio or Airtel tops the list for most metrics. In Delhi, even though BSNL operates MTNL's mobile network from the backend, it is posted as MTNL brand in the results. BSNL has launched 4G in Delhi and is planning to launch 5G soon.
