PlayAI Team To Join Meta

According to Meta's internal memo, the entire PlayAI team will join Meta from next week. According to the company, this team is working on voice systems that are very close to the human voice and can be easily used on various platforms.

According to a Bloomberg report, the PlayAI team will report to Meta's new executive, Johan Schalkwyk. Johan recently joined Meta from another voice AI startup, Sesame AI. However, the total value of this deal has not been disclosed yet.

Achieving Superintelligence

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said earlier this year that AI is his company's biggest priority. This partnership with PlayAI is a part of this mission. The company's objective is to develop such AI that is not limited to task automation but can think and understand better than humans.

Lessons From Past Challenges

Meta launched an AI model called LLaMA 4 this year, but it could not make as much impact as models like Google's Gemini and OpenAI's GPT-4. After this, Meta changed its AI strategy and is now making big investments in both talent and technology.

Huge Investment In Talent And Technology

Meta recently bought AI startup Scale AI for about $14.3 billion. Apart from this, Meta has also included key AI researchers working on GPT-4 and GPT-4o in its team. Even Apple's AI head, Ruoming Pang, has been offered more than $200 million by the company.
