New Delhi: A large number of WhatsApp users, including in India, were taken aback on Monday when the Meta-owned messaging platform put their accounts "under review" for 24 hours and temporarily restricted access to key features. The outage was reported around 8 pm IST and users reported the outage without any prior notice from WhatsApp.
The unexpected account review immediately raised concern among users, with many taking to social media to report that important WhatsApp features were not accessible during the review period. “The issue impacted several accounts, but it’s not clear how many users were affected,” the spokesperson said.
