WhatsApp to launch ‘Quick Recap’ feature; Here’s how it will work

How does this new feature work?

Quick Recap is an improved version of WhatsApp's current chat summary system. Right now, this feature is only available as a single chat summary in the US, but with Quick Recap, users can pick up to five chats and get instant summaries from AI.

This feature is especially helpful for people who don't use WhatsApp for a long time and have to go through the trouble of opening and reading each chat.

Now, with AI, they can quickly get the main points from every chat in just a few seconds.

How to use this option?

According to WABetaInfo, to use this feature, users need to go to the Chats tab and select some chats. Then, the 'Quick Recap' option will appear in the menu with three dots at the top right. When you tap on it, Meta's AI technology will process the selected chats and display an accurate summary on the screen.

What is Meta's privacy claim?

Meta claims that this feature will use 'Private Processing' technology, where user privacy is the top priority.
It will use end-to-end encryption, secure enclaves, and secure computing infrastructure. This means that neither Meta nor WhatsApp can read your chats or their summaries.

This feature is optional

This feature is not turned on automatically. Users need to enable it manually. Also, the summaries of chats that are protected by WhatsApp's 'Advanced Chat Privacy' will not be included in this feature.

When will it be launched?

The feature is currently being tested with WhatsApp for Android beta users. It is expected to be available for beta testers in the coming weeks and then gradually released to all Android users.
