The modus operandi of the gang was simple and practical. They used to locate women from weaker sections and get them to do surrogacy. After the birth the child was sold to needy couples.
The racket came into light when a couple, whom the surrogacy child was sold, found that the DNA of the newborn through surrogacy did not match theirs at all.
This couple has reportedly paid Rs 35 lakhs to have a child through surrogacy and after making several payments to the clinic in due course of nine months, the couple discovered this bitter truth.
Ultimately the couple filed a complaint against the clinic. As as result the police raided this illegal surrogacy and fertility centre and took action.
