Severe cold conditions have tightened their grip over North India following snowfall in the hills and icy winds in the plains. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 3°C, the lowest since 2013. Eight states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab, are under cold wave alert.
North India is witnessing severe cold as snowfall in the Himalayas triggers icy winds across the plains. Kashmir and Himachal record sub-zero temperatures, while dense fog disrupts transport in UP, Punjab and Rajasthan. Rivers and lakes have frozen in hill states.
North India is reeling under intense cold, dense fog and snowfall as western disturbance remains active. IMD reports visibility below 50 metres in many regions, disrupting flights and trains. Heavy snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand has intensified chill in plains.
