Former world number one Saina Nehwal defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to make it to the semi-final round of the ongoing Malaysian Masters here on Friday.
In a major blow to the Indian fans, Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu knocked out of the Japan Open Super Series after going down in straight games against Nozomi Okuhara in the second round here.
Sindhu, who is seeded fourth in the tournament, will have to be at her menacing best to get through world No. 19 Minatsu Mitani in the opening round of the women’s singles event.
