The Income tax department on Thursday claimed certain news items in a section of media regarding spike in the income tax “stop filers” could be due to loss of jobs or income drop due to fall in economic activity under the impact of demonetisation as “totally false and baseless”.

India, Iran sign double taxation pact

India and Iran on Saturday signed an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) revealed.
