Raebareli: In a significant move against the illegal trade of codeine-based cough syrup, Raebareli police have arrested Divakar Singh, the director of Ajay Pharma. The arrest comes as part of an investigation into a large-scale drug racket reportedly involving the illicit sale and purchase of 5 to 6 lakh bottles of cough syrup.

The case was initially reported by Drug Inspector Shivendra Pratap Singh, prompting police action. The illegal trade surfaced in Raebareli, involving two medical outlets Ajay Pharma and Medicine House. Police registered cases against Divakar Singh, the director of Ajay Pharma, and Priyanshu, the director of Medicine House.
