Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written a letter to the people of the state on the occasion of International Literacy Day, emphasising the importance of education, technology and skill development. Yogi said that teachers are the guiding force who spread the light of knowledge and help shape the future generations. CM further highlighted that education's objective is not limited to reading and writing, but also includes inculcating values, discipline, confidence and the ability to make correct decisions in life.
Teachers are lamps of knowledge
In the letter, relased on teachers Day, the Chief Minister recalled the contribution of teachers and said that on Teachers Day, he had the opportunity to honor 81 teachers who have played an important role in nation-building. Yogi further said that teachers connect students with knowledge, values and responsibility while carrying forward India's rich educational tradition. According to CM, education becomes meaningful when it improves lives and contributes positively to society.
AI Literacy is the new requirement alongside digital education
He said that technology is rapidly transforming every aspect of life, making digital literacy and artificial intelligence (AI) awareness essential for everyone. He mentioned that emerging technologies like AI, deep-tech and innovation are creating new opportunities in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, industries and employment.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s technology initiatives, including the development of an AI ecosystem in Lucknow and drone and UAV technology facilities in Kanpur.
Operation Kayakalp, Mission Prerna boosting education system in UP
CM Yogi said the state government is strengthening the education system through initiatives like Operation Kayakalp, Mission Prerna, Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana and skill development programmes to improve school infrastructure, learning outcomes, competitive exam preparation and youth empowerment. He claimed that these efforts have helped reduce school dropout rates and encouraged more children to continue their education.
Teachers an important link in education system
CM described teachers as the strongest pillar of the education system. He said that teachers not only provide academic knowledge, but also develop curiosity, discipline, confidence and a sense of responsibility among students. He added that teachers play a crucial role in connecting India's traditional knowledge with modern science and technology. Yogi further said even a small effort to educate someone can open new opportunities and increase confidence in their life.
An appeal for 100 percent literacy
Ahead of International Literacy Day, CM Yogi appealed to citizens to support the literacy campaign and help those who are unable to read and write. CM urged people to take a pledge that every child reaches school, every student gets quality education, every youth gains skills and every citizen becomes aware of digital and AI knowledge.
