DM Amit Pal cracks down on lapses during surprise inspections of tehsil and block offices

District Magistrate Dr. Amit Pal conducted surprise inspections at Manjhanpur Tehsil and block offices in Chayal and Nevada, ordering salary withholdings over lapses in cleanliness, record maintenance, absenteeism, and grievance handling, while directing officials to prioritize public service and timely complaint resolution.

Kaushambi: District Magistrate Dr. Amit Pal conducted a detailed inspection of Manjhanpur Tehsil to review administrative arrangements and public service facilities. During the visit, he directed Sub-Divisional Magistrate S.P. Verma to ensure proper seating arrangements for complainants, adequate drinking water facilities, and clean, well-maintained toilets within the premises.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of water in the men’s toilet and poor maintenance of the water cooler, the District Magistrate ordered the withholding of the salary of the concerned Nazir. He emphasized that basic amenities for citizens visiting government offices must not be neglected under any circumstances.

Irregularities in Record Management

While inspecting the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s court, Dr. Pal found official records to be improperly maintained. Taking serious note of the lapse, he directed that the salary of the concerned Peshkar be withheld. He also instructed officials to accelerate the disposal of pending revenue cases in the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar courts.

During the inspection of the record room, he stressed that all documents must be maintained systematically and that CCTV systems should remain functional at all times to ensure transparency and security.

Review of Service Records and Revenue Recovery

The District Magistrate also examined the service books of Lekhpals and Amins, directing that they be kept updated regularly. He sought details from the Amin regarding defaulters owing more than Rs 10 lakh and reviewed the progress of revenue recovery. Necessary directions were issued to the Tehsildar to expedite recovery efforts.

While checking the IGRS and public grievance registers, Dr. Pal observed that complainants’ mobile numbers and case updates were not properly recorded. He instructed officials to issue a warning to the public grievance clerk and ensure that all information is updated accurately. Additional District Magistrate (Judicial) Om Prakash and other officials were present during the inspection.

Priority on Public Hearings at Chayal Block Office

Dr. Amit Pal also inspected the Block Development Office in Chayal. During the review of the IGRS and public grievance registers, he found that disposal remarks and records of conversations with complainants were missing. Expressing displeasure, he ordered explanations from the Block Development Officer and the Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat).

He directed that public hearings be conducted on priority and that complaints received through IGRS be resolved in a time-bound and qualitative manner. Complaints received during public interaction programs must also be uploaded to the IGRS portal.

He further emphasized maintaining cleanliness in the office premises and proper upkeep of official records. Deputy Commissioner MGNREGA Manoj Verma and other officials were present.

Salary Withheld Over Absenteeism at Nevada Block

The District Magistrate later inspected the Block Development Office in Nevada. Similar lapses were observed in grievance registers, prompting him to seek explanations from the concerned officers. He reiterated that complaint resolution must be prioritized and handled efficiently.

Upon reviewing the attendance register, he found the Assistant Development Officer (Cooperative), Establishment Clerk, and Gram Development Officer (Social Welfare) absent and ordered that their salaries be withheld. He also expressed dissatisfaction over poor cleanliness in the meeting hall and directed the Block Development Officer to ensure improved sanitation across the office premises.
