Meerut: The brutal murder of a Dalit woman, Sunita, and the kidnapping of her daughter, Ruby, from Kapsad village in Sardhana, Meerut, has shaken not just the district but also drawn attention from the state’s political and administrative circles. The shocking incident has prompted unprecedented security measures in and around the village, creating an atmosphere akin to an unofficial curfew.

Village Sealed, Entry Restricted

Following the incident, the entire area from Kapsad village to Sardhana tehsil has been sealed. Barricades have been set up at the village boundaries, with police and paramilitary forces stationed at every entry and exit point. According to officials, media personnel, outsiders, and political leaders have been barred from entering the village. Even residents from nearby villages are being prevented from entering Kapsad.

Unofficial Curfew in Place

For the past four days, the village has been under strict police monitoring. Residents remain largely confined to their homes. Daily wage laborers, office-goers, and schoolchildren are unable to step out. Police vigilance is so strict that neighbors cannot even visit each other’s homes.

Limited Movement Through Paths

Due to tight security on main roads, villagers have resorted to walking through farm paths to meet their daily needs. Even these routes are monitored, and residents face reprimands if caught, creating a climate of fear and unease.

Sunita’s family is mourning her death in isolation, as relatives and neighbors are not allowed to visit due to security restrictions. Officials claim the measures are necessary to prevent rumors or unrest in the village.

Police Assurance

SP Dehat Abhijeet Kumar said, “The situation in the village is completely under control. Adequate police force has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.” All roads leading to Kapsad and connecting villages have been patrolled by RAF and PAC personnel, with additional support from police forces from Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, and Hapur districts.
