Kushinagar: Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) festival, the Kushinagar district administration has intensified preparations to ensure peaceful celebrations across the district.
A high-level peace committee meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium on Friday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Mahendra Singh Tawar, with Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar also present.
Religious leaders, local representatives and officials from multiple departments attended the meeting to discuss security, law and order, sanitation and public coordination during the festival period.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate instructed that all traditions associated with the festival should be observed in their customary manner and no new practices would be permitted. He said maintaining peace and ensuring smooth celebrations remain the administration’s top priority.

Officials were directed to ensure that traffic movement is not disrupted during religious activities. The administration also reiterated that the sacrifice of prohibited animals would not be allowed under any circumstances. Authorities instructed that disposal of animal waste must be carried out only at designated locations.
Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar appealed to residents not to believe or circulate rumours on social media. He urged people to verify information before reacting to any provocative or objectionable content online.
The SP warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony or spread misinformation during the festival.
Officials reviewed sensitive and disputed areas during the meeting and directed local authorities to resolve pending disputes in advance to avoid tension during Eid celebrations.

The District Magistrate instructed SDMs, BDOs, Circle Officers and Station House Officers to maintain close coordination and remain alert throughout the festival period.
The administration has also issued directions to strengthen sanitation and electricity arrangements across both urban and rural areas. Officials from the power department were instructed to ensure immediate response in case of power disruptions.
To maintain security, the administration has deployed 2 super zonal magistrates, 6 zonal magistrates and 38 sector magistrates across the district from May 27 to May 29.
Police have also been directed to increase foot patrols and flag marches in sensitive areas. CCTV surveillance will be closely monitored, while a control room has been established at the Collectorate for continuous coordination and emergency response during the festival.
