Preparations are in full swing in Kushinagar for the upcoming International Buddhist Conclave. Officials have been given strict deadlines and responsibilities to ensure a seamless global event with high-level security and arrangements.
Kushinagar DM Sets Deadline for Buddhist Conclave Readiness
Kushinagar: Authorities in Kushinagar have intensified preparations for the upcoming International Buddhist Conclave scheduled from March 31 to April 2. A high-level review meeting was chaired by District Magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar to assess readiness across departments.
The meeting, held at the Vikas Bhavan auditorium, saw participation from nodal and district-level officers responsible for executing various aspects of the event.
The District Magistrate directed officials to carry out their assigned responsibilities in a time-bound and coordinated manner. Stressing the global importance of the event, he stated that any form of negligence would not be tolerated.
He instructed that all necessary work orders related to infrastructure including stage setup, tents, seating, and basic facilities—must be issued by March 25, with all preparations completed by March 29.
Officials were also asked to finalise the list of participants, speakers, and VIP guests at the earliest. Invitations are to be sent out promptly, and a detailed, category-wise schedule of events must be prepared in advance to ensure smooth execution.
Special emphasis was placed on organising thematic conferences involving teachers, farmers, women, ASHA workers, and youth. The administration has been tasked with preparing structured plans for each segment.
The District Magistrate also stressed maintaining high standards for cultural programmes, including careful selection of artists, quality performances, and professional stage management.
Detailed discussions were held on accommodation for guests and monks, along with hotel arrangements, transport, catering, sanitation, drinking water, healthcare services, electricity supply, and fire safety.

Officials were directed to ensure all arrangements meet protocol standards and are executed with proper coordination.
The administration is also focusing on social media outreach, publicity, and press coordination. Teams have been formed to manage communications, control room operations, and financial planning.
A press conference is planned a day before the event, along with a “Run for Peace” initiative. Security and traffic arrangements are being strengthened, with police and administrative departments working in close coordination.
