Kushinagar: DM Tawar Honours Retiring Wing Commander, Reviews Health Services and Welfare Schemes

From honouring a retiring Air Force veteran to cracking down on suspicious health data, Kushinagar DM Mahendra Singh Tawar held back-to-back review meetings focused on ex-servicemen welfare and public healthcare.

Kushinagar: A Sainik Bandhu meeting was held on Monday at the Kushinagar Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Mahendra Singh Tawar. The meeting was attended by District Soldier Welfare and Rehabilitation Officer Wing Commander Alok Saxena (Retd.), ex-servicemen, war widows and their dependents in large numbers.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate informed attendees that Wing Commander Alok Saxena’s tenure will conclude on June 12, 2026, making this his final Sainik Bandhu meeting. On the occasion, the DM honoured him for his dedicated service and contribution toward the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.

The District Magistrate praised Saxena for organising the highest number of Sainik Bandhu meetings during his tenure and for ensuring prompt resolution of issues related to former soldiers, war widows and dependents with sensitivity and commitment.

Land and Welfare Issues Raised by Ex-Servicemen

At the beginning of the meeting, the District Magistrate welcomed the ex-servicemen and reviewed the action taken on issues raised in previous meetings. A total of 28 ex-servicemen and widows participated in the session.

Officials said four applications were submitted during the meeting. These were related to land measurement disputes, land allotment matters and cases pending in courts. The DM directed concerned officials to ensure speedy and quality disposal of all pending cases.

DM Conducts Joint Review of Health and AYUSH Departments

Following the Sainik Bandhu meeting, the District Magistrate chaired a joint review meeting of various committees related to the Health and AYUSH departments. The review covered the District Health Committee, Rogi Kalyan Samiti, Tuberculosis Control Committee, Communicable Disease Control Committee, AIDS Coordination Committee and Filaria Eradication Committee.

Strict Instructions on Pending Payments and Healthcare Services

During the review, the DM took stock of pending payments to ASHA workers and other dues. The Chief Medical Officer informed the meeting that fresh budget allocations had recently been received. The DM instructed officials to clear all pending payments immediately and warned that unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.

The District Magistrate also stressed that government welfare schemes must reach eligible beneficiaries transparently. He directed officials to ensure cleanliness in hospitals, availability of medicines, regular presence of doctors and sensitive treatment of patients.

Focus on Disease Control and Ayushman Cards

Reviewing the communicable disease control campaign, the DM instructed departments to intensify cleanliness drives, fogging, anti-larva spraying and awareness campaigns. He also reviewed the TB eradication programme and directed officials to regularly monitor patients and nutritional support systems.

During the Ayushman card review, the District Magistrate expressed displeasure over suspicious data presented in the meeting. He ordered notices to be issued to the concerned clerk and computer operator and also directed that a show-cause notice be served to the Deputy CMO.
