Muzaffarnagar: A horrifying road accident occurred this morning in the Titavi area of Muzaffarnagar on the Panipat-Khatima Highway. A Maruti Ertiga, carrying a family from Karnal, Haryana, lost control while on route to Haridwar for a funeral ritual and crashed into a truck parked by the roadside. The impact of the accident was so severe that six people in the car died on the spot, while one young man sustained critical injuries.

Among the deceased were three women- Mohni, Anju, and Vimmi and three men-Piyush, Rajendra, and Shiva. The injured youth has been identified as Hardik and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

All the victims reportedly belonged to the same family and were traveling to Haridwar for the immersion of a relative's ashes.

Incident captured on CCTV camera

The incident was captured on the CCTV camera of a nearby hotel, showing the speeding Ertiga directly crashing into the parked truck. The collision was so powerful that parts of the car were scattered, and screams and chaos ensued at the site. The video has now gone viral on social media.

Rajesh Kumar, the hotel owner, said, “The truck was parked by the roadside, and the speeding car collided directly from behind. The impact was so loud that the sound of breaking glass could be heard from a distance. Locals broke the car windows to rescue those trapped inside. Ambulances arrived immediately, and the injured were rushed to the hospital.”

Police Response

CO Fugana, Rupali Rao, stated, “All passengers were residents of Haryana and were heading to Haridwar. The accident took place near Jagdev Hotel in the Titavi police jurisdiction. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Teams have been formed to apprehend the truck driver, and the investigation is ongoing.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the accident and directed the district administration to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved family. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of speeding and road safety negligence.
